Tumble dryers are energy-intensive (they use ten times more electricity per cycle than a washing machine!) and significantly shorten the lifespan of your clothes. This is especially true if they contain spandex, which can become brittle at high temperatures, or wool, which will shrink when exposed to moisture and heat. Instead, opt for a clothesline (or “tancarville,” as the locals call it).
