I see "Loom Luxembourg" on my bank statement—are you in tax exile?
Our customers who have accounts at certain banks (BNP Paribas, CIC, Crédit Mutuel, etc.) see “Loom Luxembourg” on their bank statements. However, we promise you that we do not have any bank accounts in this tax haven.
The reason is that our e-commerce platform is hosted on Shopify (like most e-commerce sites today) and we chose Shopify Payments as our payment provider for user experience reasons (if we were to choose another payment provider, Shopify would require our customers to open a new web page to pay).
However, Shopify Payments itself has chosen "PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l. et Cie," a company based in Luxembourg, as its service provider (source).
However, we can confirm that all of our bank accounts are based in France, at the following banks: La Nef (an ethical bank), BNP Paribas (the only bank to have granted us a government-guaranteed loan during the COVID-19 pandemic), and Memo Bank (a digital bank that is very convenient for our day-to-day transactions).
